On Abstracts

Abstract: a brief summary of the contents of a
technical report, usually placed at the beginning
  (typically 100-300 words)

Abstracts are often distributed separately from the
paper so it should not include any abbreviated expressions
explained in the paper or references to the bibliography.

Note: Abstracts are not the introduction section
of a paper.
